Not many people have got two triple centuries and followed that with 293. So there is nothing to be disappointed about.

I tried to take my time, but maybe the ball was not there to be hit. I misjudged the length and the ball went straight into Murali's hands.

I was seeing the ball really well. So I thought let's bat the way I bat, See the ball. Hit the ball. First day the wicket was little damp so the ball seemed a bit. It was much better today and I think from the fourth day the track would turn.

Murali is a big challenge to face. If you have to play against a spinner like him, you have to attack him. Otherwise he will come and dominate you. So instead of allowing him to dominate, I dominated right from the first ball and pushed him into the back foot.

The way he is playing, I am sure he will break Gavaskar's feat of 10 hundreds in 32 Tests. I was telling him that your target should be to get past that and then carry on from there

I don't think we missed McGrath because he hasn't played in the last one year. He was not in that kind of form the way he bowled last year. Dirk Nannes was fantastic right through the tournament.

The way Gilchrist batted we had no chance... The bowlers had no clue. It wasn't our day... I thought 153 was a defendable total but the way Gilchrist batted, we could do very little. It was Gilchrist's day

Gambhir is the only opener I have known who is at ease in any form of the game. Gavaskar was a great opener in Tests and one-dayers and Gambhir has adapted wonderfully to the T20 format too. He is just too good.

I was a middle order batsman. I like to bat in middle order. But currently, team demands me to open batting and I am doing so

It would have been wonderful if the IPL had been held in India. There would have been problems of getting the match passes but one could have managed it. Playing in South Africa will be different, as we will not have a large number of Indian supporters to cheer this time.
