I am on the limit of chubbiness because I love my food and my wine. It's not the best for fashion, but it's good for my mood,

The worst thing you can be in Hollywood is a woman and over 40. On top of that, I have an accent, am dyslexic, short and chubby. You name it I have it, but I am here. I must be the luckiest girl in the world to be working.

I will not have Botox. You know why? Because I eat! I eat the fat, I eat the vegetables, I eat everything. If you exercise too much and you don't eat enough, it takes its toll on the skin. Everything starts ageing. If you don't eat carbs, you slow your metabolism down. And you know what? You look miserable.

I believe that every woman is entitled to fight to preserve her youth. [Plastic surgery is] like the uniform of a generation. And it's not necessarily beautiful. It's not wrinkled-looking, but it's not beautiful.

I know that I need to set boundaries for her. I can be really strict. For me, it is important that she develops a close relationship with nature. I grew up in the countryside, that’s why I feel best when we’re at our country house. When we’re there she gets to spend lots of time enjoying nature. That’s one of the greatest gifts.

I knew we had a good relationship, I just didn’t ever feel the need to get married. What I wanted was a partner who I could get old with and have children. It is nice being married now but in the end a marriage certificate does not make any difference. I just accept the living arrangements. Of course it would be nice if we could be together more often. But our marriage works this way — it doesn’t fit the common rules. But why should I question it because of that? Francois doesn’t — he gives me the space I need. But he always supports me, when I need him.
— Salma Hayek saying marrying François-Henri Pinault hasn't changed their relationship / August 14, 2010
Having to wear a bathing suit in front of the camera and thousands of extras definitely motivates you to work out. I think the outfits that make you feel good are the outfits that fit you and don’t make you feel like you have to suck in your gut or you cannot move in a certain direction. Wearing something comfortable always makes me feel confident. With a bikini there is no hiding!
— Salma Hayek saying the bikini scene in new movie Grown-Ups gave her the incentive she needed to get into shape / June 29, 2010
Hollywood has definitely grown, in embracing the inclusion of Latinos in the world because, for some time, we didn’t exist. We were not part of any stories. There are 40 million of us in the US. It was weird. I was very privileged to be part of a small generation of people that broke through that door first, but I didn’t do it by myself. Jennifer Lopez was also part of it. Ricky Martin was a huge part of it. There was a group of people and great timing.
