I’m delighted to get the win on the back of what was a very resolute performance. We started really well and they [West Ham] threw everything at us and we had to stand up to that. We went in front and looked very comfortable in the second half. The lads were determind to come through…so over the 90 minutes we certainly deserved the points.
— Owen Coyle praising his team after their 3-1 win against West Ham United / August 21, 2010
The main thing for us is to have a good start and, in the first 10 games, we need to get around 15 points because in the last three years that is what has been letting us down. If we make a good start, then we can look for a top-10 finish. We made loads of individual mistakes [last season] and that's why we didn't have that many clean sheets. There was only five last season and that wasn't good enough. With the manager [Owen Coyle] bringing a lot more confidence to players hopefully we can show that during the season and that will result in more clean sheets.
